It seems all bit impossible to talk about a Rian Johnson film without mentioning *that* other, incredibly divisive, movie in a certain Space-based franchise.

I'm one of those who that movie pretty much soured me on seeing any others by the same director.

However, this recently popped up on Netflix and so I decided that, as enough time had passed, I would give it a shot.

What I saw was pretty much a standard whodunnit, not as funny or as clever as the reviews made it out to be, and with some twists and turns I saw coming but others which I didn't.

I will agree, however, that Ana de Armas is the standout in the entire film. (And the least said about Craig's atrocious accent the better)

This book has been on my shelf for a little while; I'd bought it as I'd heard good things. I'm working on my self-imposed #readwhatyouown challenge this year, and once I heard that Amy Poehler was going to direct an adaption of this one at Netflix, I figured it was a good time to pick it up.

MOXIE was a slow starter, but turned into a really rousing, empowering read, and I'm excited to see how it translates to the screen. It's incredibly timely and also very terrifying. The more I read it, the more horrified I was that this was reality for females in high school. So much of what Mathieu describes you know happens, but as a parent of two young girls, it's just awful to read about all these kids endure.

There's almost two plot lines in this one--the feminist saga of Moxie and a romance featuring Vivian and another boy at school. I've seen some complaints that the romance detracted from the overall plot, but I actually enjoyed it. Vivian even worries that she is distracting herself from Moxie, at times, because of her relationship. The romance also provides some comedic moments and humanizes Vivian, making her seem more like a real teen. She's a great character, and I really like her.

Overall, even though this was a little slow to begin, I really enjoyed it. It's very YA, if that makes any sense--it's a great book to have on the shelves of all high schools. I would rate it as a 3.5-star read, but I'm bumping it up to 4-stars, because it makes you laugh, cheer, and nearly cry. You'll also fall for the characters, especially Vivian and her friends. I'm looking forward to see how Poehler and crew bring this to Netflix.

No Escaping The High Ratings
I've never been so into a show as this one. My binge-watching addiction commenced with this series. Truly addicting and irresistible. If I had to choose between all the shows I've watched, this is one of the BEST! Innovative and creative. It contains clever inventions of escape that never fail to amaze. I'm not a nail-biter, but this is the show that can cause one to start. It keeps you on the edge of your seat. I didn't watch this show as it aired, I watched it on NETFLIX, I cannot imagine the viewers who actually had to wait years for the upcoming seasons because each episode has cliffhangers that leave you itching for more. It contains a great story line. Sharp plotting. It's excellent, suspenseful, and intriguing. Overall, an unpredictable thrill ride.

As someone who grew up watching and loving Buffy and the spin off series Angel. I also re-watched it about 4 years ago when it was on Netflix so I'm very tied to the Buffyverse. This book definitely kept the Buffy humor which is so it's own brand and it was on point so that contributes to the higher rating. I feel the last 1/4 of the book really picked up as well by the end I was left wanting the next book to come. The first half of the story kind of leaves Buffy as the villian and (for good reasons in Nina's view) that just did not sit well with me. Otherwise, I believe the writting was great and the Buffyverse was left in all it's glory and so well reserved by Kiersten.

Far too dull
The curse of the Netflix original film strikes again. I've yet to see one that surpasses anything other than average, and I'm afraid The Highwaymen is no exception.

This has a great cast and who doesn't love Woody Harrelson? I'm on the fence about Kevin Costner though, I struggled to understand what he was even saying in some scenes. The costumes and sets etc are well done, but the problem with this film is that it is so damn dull. You would've thought a story about the capture of Bonnie and Clyde would be interesting, but this film really doesn't show it. The characters spend most of the film driving around in a car talking, and it is just so boring. It's a shame as it could've been interesting, but instead its 2 hours that dragged so much.
