Fun novel for all ages
What we have here is a well told origin story which does a good job of getting readers wanting more. We have the story of Harry Potter who live with his aunt and uncle. He is treated badly. One day he discovers he has magical powers and is invited to study at Hogwarts school of magic. There he learns about his parents and his past with an evil wizard. This is a great start to an adventure.
Red Blood
Contains spoilers, click to show
The first time I read Red Queen I loved the book. However since the release of the next two in the series my love of the book has been seriously diminished. Where the original story of Mare Barrow finding out she has powers, in a world where silver bloods are supposed to be the only ones who have it, Mare suddenly finding herself into a world of cover ups and betrayals. I really enjoyed the twist and turns of the first book. Unfortunely the same cover ups and beytrals happen in the same way and get dragged out each book. So whilst I love the first one unfortunetly the later books destroy my love of the first.

Nostalgia goes a long way
Starring:
Elizabeth Banks, Bill Cranston, Dacre Montgomery, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Ludi Lin and Becky G.
Director: Dean Israelite
Plot: Five troubled teens get super powers. Join forces with an interdimensional being and living robot to battle an enemy called Rita
Result:
A huge amount of fun and nostalgia for those who grew up with the TV show.
Whilst the film overall is on the scale of "not as bad as you might expect," it is a tremendous amount of fun and I enjoyed it from start to finish.
Low expectations and a disengaged brain will help a great deal with this.

Adorable Spirits (2 more)
Rotating board
Variety in play styles
Imbalance between spirits (2 more)
Can get clogged up and reduce action potential
Scoring can be weird
Kami-sama is an adorable area-control game all about putting shrines down in certain patterns to score. Each player has a spirit with various Powers that range from blowing shrines around to flipping a coin to get a special effect. Easy to learn and the various spirits makes every game different. I found this game plays best at 3 as at 2, it requires an automata and at 4 the board can get a little crowded for some spirits. The spirits are mostly balanced, but some definitely feel weaker than others.

Lexi won't stop until she finds the Red Eye that killed her friend but in her search she comes to the attention of not only the Red Eyed, evil Dark Fae but also bad boy Dragon King, Thorn.
When the Dark Fea realise she is immune to their powers they know she is a Dragon King mate and to catch a dragon they must trap Lexi.
I don't read much fantasy but I do love this series. The Dragon Kings are brave and sexy and will do anything to protect their mate while also protecting their secret from the Humans.
I do love Donna Grants writing, she makes her books easy to read and difficult to put down.

Stylized 80s Italian horror at its finest
It's hard to believe Jennifer Connelly was ever that young!
Director Dario Argento's interesting tale of a young American girl with unusual powers who comes to attend a European boarding school is interesting and very unusual at the same time. After a series of murders, the girl has to decide if her abilities will help her or it's just time to get out.
The film's rock score is intense and backs up the ominous visuals and striking sets and lighting. Certainly campy by today's standards, it still is an entertaining watch for those who enjoy out-of-the-box storytelling.

Meh
I was expecting so much from this movie and it didn't pay off. I thought this was going to be about "what if superman was a normal kid who got bullied and so used his new found powers for revenge." Instead we got "strange psycho alien kid who used to be completely normal and now he is insane because reasons." Not gonna lie, the gore was slightly entertaining, but the kid actor was off-putting; and not in a horror movie kind of way.
The concept of the movie had the potential to be something special and give something different to the superhero genre, but instead we got another hash of "The Omen" movies.

Disney's sky high is a story about a pre-hero teen who is set to attend a school for future hero's & maybe some villains.
a brilliant coming of age story that centres on pride and ambition told in a way only Disney can.
Plenty of fun and live action Disney style sfx make this a great family movie.
