Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2275 KP) rated Mrs. Pollifax on Safari (Mrs. Pollifax, #5) in Books
Mar 9, 2018
Mrs. Pollifax is off to Zambia to join a safari that also includes the famed assassin Aristotle. Can she figure out which of her traveling companions he is? Or will an innocent message she leaves before the trip starts cause too many problems. I must admit I was surprised at how slowly this book starts. Much slower than I remembered. But overall it was still quite good.

Christian Mysticism - Yup, that is a thing. (2 more)
Faith from a completely different point of view
real topics real discussions no fluff
Science - Faith - Life - Ask Science Mike!
Love this podcast. Mike McHargue takes any topic from science to faith to basic living anf breaks it down in a completely different way. Through a filter of logic, science and faith he turns faith based topics on their heads and digs into into the problems of traditional faith and organized religion.

Rachel Howser Roberts (96 KP) rated Salvage Trouble (Black Ocean Mission 1) in Books
Jul 9, 2018 (Updated Jul 9, 2018)
Firefly Meets Wizards
This book was advertised as Firefly with wizards, and that's pretty much what it is. There is almost a one-to-one correlation between the characters in the book and the characters in Firefly. That being said, I love Firefly and enjoyed the story very much. It's a fast-paced space opera. The story felt a little short to me, more like a TV episode verses a movie. The book was self-published and had some editing problems (specifically typos).

Nikkyuze (0 KP) rated the Xbox One version of 7 Days to Die in Video Games

Cool survival game to play with a friend
I play this with my son. We have several worlds we play. It can be difficult especially when you lose all your stuff and playing legitimately can take forever. There is a cheat option though and for my son it makes the game easier when you just want to go around killing zombies and collecting stuff. The game sometimes freezes or stops working but not enough to cause major problems in playability

Andy K (10823 KP) rated Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995) in Movies
Oct 2, 2018
And introducing Paul Rudd!
Wow what a low point in the Halloween series.
Michael is back to finish up murdering every surviving member of the Strode family in this nonsense entry in the series. Hard to believe 6 years after the last installment this is the best they could come up with.
Production problems plagues the film which I'm sure didn't help. It was painful to watch.
Too bad this had to be the last appearance of Dr. Loomis due to the death of Donald Pleasance.

Yoshi (40 KP) rated The Enchanter Heir (The Heir Chronicles, #4) in Books
Oct 29, 2018
I absolutely loved this book. The addition of the zombies/shades to this series makes it even better, making this book the perfect read for the month of October. There are enough mentions of the original characters from the series to make me happy, but not so much that you wouldn't understand the story without the first three (apart from the magical guilds). Unfortunately this is the first book in the heir series that leaves unresolved problems at the end, but at least we know there's another book coming.

Superb
The best, most engaging and accurate portrayal Of a simple man suffering from Mental Health problems and the society around him that either can't or won't help him...
When going into this flick I couldn’t have imagined how much of an effect it would have on me. This is was an absolute masterclass in filmmaking and one of the single best performances I have seen in the last decade.
Oh it’s also a Batman DC tie-in so that makes it all the sweeter

Elli H Burton (1288 KP) rated Some Girls in TV

Situations we have all found ourselves in when we were young (1 more)
It's laugh out loud funny
Relatable and hilarious
I was a teenager when this first came out and absolutely loved it, still do now. It's actually quite relatable, the problems the girls face are things im sure everyone has some kind of experience with.
The girls in this act really well and the way it's written is fab - it doesn't drag, theres no unnecessary veer offs.
All my girl friends love this, I'm sure you will too, give it a go!

David McK (3496 KP) rated Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017) in Movies
Dec 10, 2019
By far the most divisive of the Star Wars movies, this is one of those films that I tend to enjoy while watching, but later come away with a whole host of problems. Such as:
How can Rey be so powerful with no training?
What, Princess (or General) Leia doing Peter Pan in space (may not have been so bad if there had been any indication she knew/was trained in how to use the Force)
The world slowest Lightspeed chase
What is the point of the Canto Bight excursion?
and, not forgetting,
#NotmyLuke
