Who remembers Roger Rabbit?
My first summer job was in 1988 (I'm old) so I remember watching Who Framed Roger Rabbit over and over and loving it more each time I watched.

The late, great Bob Hoskins was able to hold his own against the melee of cartoon extravaganza put forth all around him. The story is fun and exciting with lots of twists and turns, but to just be a part of the cinema roller-coaster that is this film was all part of the fun.

Or seeing Bugs Bunny and Mickey Mouse together. Or seeing a piano duel with Donald and Daffy Duck.

I have never been a big fan of remakes, but they could probably do a great remake if Zemeckis decided to remake his own movie. I would be a fan of that.

Ghost in the Shell review – Scarlett Johansson remake lacks mystery
Critic Review by Peter Bradshaw - The Guardian
Original Score: 3 out of 5
Excerpt:

"Johansson is always convincing as the robot Major: perhaps it was her unseen voice role as the Siri-type computer presence in Spike Jonze’s Her which made her a shoo-in for the part. Her acting style is just elusive or unreadable enough to make her plausible here. This movie gives us the shell, but not so much of the ghost".

Remake bah!
I know there is a new version of this film coming out soon and I'm not happy about it. The same way I wasn't happy about The Beguiled remake (which was horrible), some movies are better untouched.

This might be my favorite Steve McQueen film or at least his best acting performance (maybe The Sand Pebbles?) Everyone should watch this prison film and also the triumph of the human spirit.

Dustin Hoffman is also great as well as the great filming locations. They augment the story and make it more believable.

Highly recommended.

Rating between 6 & 7 - Not quite what I expected
Thanks to Smashbomb for letting me watch and review this movie. I was looking forward to seeing this movie and what they did with it, but it wasn't as great as I expected or hoped it would be.
The thing is this was supposed to be a remake of Mulan - a live-action version instead of the animated one, but a remake nonetheless and this movie was not Mulan. It was like they took the very basic storyline from the animated Mulan and then completely redid the movie into something totally different.
This movie was like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon crossed with the basic idea of Mulan. What my husband said and I agreed with him is that this movie is okay on its own by itself, but looking at it as a live-action remake of the animated Mulan it's not so great.
I liked the general idea of the movie, the special effects, and the different background for Mulan with some of the changes in the movie, but it just wasn't Mulan. I still prefer the animated version myself.

Rob zombie makes micheal myers into a 2 hour film
Contains spoilers, click to show
Yes if you didnt know that rob zombie directed a halllowen film, well this is it.

Rob Zombie's remake of halloween takes alot of risks. But do their pay off no their dont.

Rob focus on younger micheal for a good hour and thats a bit to longer, and than the last hour is a fast paste copy and paste of the oringal film.

So many swears in this film. Their is like over 100 swears. 20 in the first 20 minutes.

Im not sure why rob zombie directed halloween, it was a intrest choice. Also rob put his wife in the film.

Halloween, could of been more, but with its long run time, a heavy focus on micheal myers childhood and a rush copy and paste of the oringal. Halloween fails as a remake.
