Rey's true parentage (if it's not contradicted in the next film), was completely anti-climactic. We got no backstory on Snoke. Who is Snoke? I did like that my favorite force ghost was brought back, and I appreciated that the character wasn't computer generated. I'm still waiting for force ghost Anakin to make an appearance to slap the crap out of Ben Solo. The excursion to Canto Bight was, strange? Unneeded? Laura Dern's character was semi-pointless. The character wasn't really likeable enough to care what she did or didn't do.
I was surprised that they did not take the opportunity to kill off Leia. They let the past die, just not completely.
***After seeing this a second time... I disliked it even more.

I'm going to struggle with this review, and I apologise for that. The reviews for books that do not garner much of any feelings from me (either positive or negative) I find the hardest to write.
I liked the tale, I did, it just came across a bit sappy for me. I liked the twist as to who/what Clarence really is, although I kinda saw something along those lines coming at me.
It is clean, there is no violence, save for the shark getting caught in the fishing net. I've tagged it Young Adult, because I think this is probably more suited to an upper teen (14-18) than for me.
First I've read of this author. Will I read more? Not of this series, no. Possibly something else, though.
I DID finish it, so that's why I gave it. . .

The time setting is in the 1960s and I agree with most of the other reviews that say it reminds you of the outsiders but instead of a bunch of bros there are chicas being badass. Anyone who liked the outsiders should check out this read because the author did base the story on the classic novel so that's why it is super similar. And if you love zines Jennifer Mathieu's book Moxie is perf for all the riot grrls out there and the movie is directed by Amy Poehler!
