SF movie that dares to attempt to be a serious, thoughtful drama; almost feels like a Christopher Nolan pastiche. Linguistics expert Amy Adams is recruited to try and make contact when enigmatic giant squid-things appear in vast spacecraft scattered across the planet.

Well, as a language-teaching professional, I have to say that Adams' approach to teaching the squid English is deeply suspect, but in all other respects this is an impressive film that is not afraid to credit its audience with intelligence. Possibly the only film featuring both the US army and Jeremy Renner in which he does not play some sort of special-forces sharpshooter. Perhaps a little bit too slow, chilly, and cerebral to really succeed as an entertainment, but still well worth watching, even if it is ultimately easier to admire than to like.

Ranger Rick's Travels: National Parks! by Stacy Tornio is a book that is colorful which will help children appreciate the beauty and diversity of the United States. The book is categorized within the different regions of the country and then showcases National Parks within that area. Every National Park is mentioned. The pictures and facts about the parks are a great way to teach children about America. The book catches the attention of children and adults. I would love to include this book in my classroom for when teaching American History. For example, if I am talking about California I could show the students a park from that region or if we are discussing about New England I could do the same. This book is a great resource whether teaching 1st grade or 8th grade.

Wonderful book for helping little children learn all about color. (0 more)

Super creative book for both younger and older children who are interested in art and colors. The pictures are wonderful and it is book that will be loved and used beyond just teaching children there beginning color words. The pages are also made of a heavier cardstock insuring that the books will last after years of enjoyment.
