Admittedly I only downloaded/read this because of an A-Z challenge in one of my groups. It's not something I would have picked up of my own doing (that sounds horrible, I know, but it's true.)
I never gelled with the story; the way it was written was too strange for my taste and it didn't seem to have an ease to it. It just didn't pull me in like most other YA books do.
The storyline (what bit I read) was just a little odd: a new guy arrives at school and two of your friends like him like him and you instinctively know he's a little dodgy because he can't stop staring and within days he's been invited out with you and your fiends to the cinema where it all goes downhill. I stopped reading a little after this point.
I just couldn't connect with the story, the characters or the writing style.
Totally not for me, I'm afraid.

Jordan Belfort (played by Leonardo DiCaprio) goes from being an honest to God working man to the scammer of all scammers working a pump and dump stock trading system using his impressive hard selling skills.
Donnie Azoff (played by Jonah Hill) is his best friend and ally in this scam, you get the sense that Donnie is really just there for comic relief with a couple of scenes standing out.
This film is an enjoyable raucous mix of sex drugs and rock and roll within a financial office setting.
There are several other notable members of cast in this including Jordans long suffering wife Naomi (played by Margot Robbie) and smaller parts from Jon Bernthal, Matthew McConaughey, Rob Reiner and Ethan Suplee.
Well worth a watch and excellently done by Martin Scorsese as always.

I'm sad to say that this film was seen mainly because it was a new and I was running desperately low on things to see. It looked like it might be interesting. But being as I'm terrible with motion sickness, the prospect of watching a film where a significant proportion was going to be bobbing up and down didn't leave my stomach with much enthusiasm.
I wasn't left with much to say about this one. Again, it seems wrong to say I didn't like a story that's based on true life events, but I came away with very little to rave about. It's an interesting insight into how competitive pressure from sponsors and the team change the way events can go, but the film itself wasn't overly memorable.

John Travolta can only be partially blamed for this failure. He was exactly what you would expect him to be if you have ever seen his acting ability. The story he was attempting to convey was the true criminal. Convoluted and disoriented from the start, it was never able to get on its feet, let alone take a step in a forward direction. I'm not sure there is any actor alive who could have made up for the deficiencies everywhere you look in this movie.
I've definitely seen much worse, even in this genre. But I had high hopes and they were abruptly shattered.
