Dances With Wolves (1990)
Dances With Wolves (1990)
1990 | Action, Drama, Western
I had watched it when it was released, I was a little over 10 years old.... and I had already loved the movie. I must have watched it again a while later, but until today I had never seen it again. I took the extended edition of almost 4 hours to watch it on my London - São Paulo flight. The film remains strong, beautiful, powerful in its message even more today than in the 90s... especially for us Brazilians who see a government trying to decimate indigenous culture in our country. Charismatic characters, beautiful scenes, opening up a cruel reality of the human being that many try not to see, which is even stronger in a time of pandemic. The length of the film never bothered me, people today seem to be in a hurry to see a movie...
I used to be a weird kid, but I keep thinking about ten-year-olds these days watching this Fast and Furious shit that can't watch anything good. Dark times.

Moving In ( Books 1)
By Ron Ripley
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

"Iron...and...salt," whispers the old man. The dead old man. "Hurry or it will be too late...."

To escape the stress of living in the city and the anxiety of his high-pressure job, Brian Roy moves his family to the country. His wife loves the easy living, but Brian hates it...especially when weird things start happening in the house. When he discovers a dead body in the woods and a burial ground in his basement, Brian could never imagine the shocking history of the house or its former occupants that comes to light.

As his life starts to unravel, Brian isn't so sure living in the country is going to be the oasis of peace he and his wife expected. Lately, his home has become a haunting den of hell.

This was so much fun! A proper ghost fest! I love Ron Ripley he is so easy to read and enjoy. Really good start to a promising series.

Can Remi Follow the Clues to Find a Killer?
Remi McKenna is hosting a letterboxing event with some friends in the town where she is planning to move. Along for the ride is her best friend, Trace Cooper. However, Trace has brought a problem with her. She’s been getting some weird texts and phone calls recently, and it appears her potential stalker has followed her. Can Remi juggle the event she is running with trying to figure out if her best friend is truly in danger?

This debut had some promise to it. I really did enjoy the main characters, for example. The supporting characters tended to blend together for me. While the letterboxing event was fun, I was expecting a bit more about the board game cafe instead of it being a subplot. The pacing for the mystery is a bit off, but things made sense when we reached the end. I’d consider giving a second in the series a chance, but I’d hope some of these kinks would be worked out.

I can see why this movie gets such a mixed bag with its reviews. There are certainly elements that could make you dislike the movie and those moments will be different for everyone.
Yes Luke seems out of character, but he is older and has made mistakes. He has demons to deal with, he is human is flawed. We just don't always like to see our hero's that way. Leia can tap into the force to save herself from floating into space (the difficult moment for me). There are weird flying space penguins, and the force can let you talk to people across the galaxy.
As a whole though the Last Jedi captures the essence of a Star Wars film. If The Force Awakens was a homage to the original trilogy then this movie is the one clearing the ground for something new. Stars Wars is set in a huge galaxy, the stories cannot always be about Skywalkers. The Last Jedi creates the opening for Rey, Finn and the other new blood to make their own stories.
