Imogen SB (4507 KP) rated The Reckoners in Tabletop Games
Mar 19, 2019
'I’ll admit it. I’m biased. Brandon’s been my favorite author for more than 10 years now, so I was already really excited about this game before it even came out. But if I’m being completely objective, I still would have to say that I really enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to playing it many more times in the future. Even though the box is enormous, it’s earned its spot on my shelf. To put it simply, it’s a great game.'

Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated The Godfather (1972) in Movies
Jun 10, 2019
I bet you didn’t think you’d see a gangster movie on this list. Well, stick with this one. The Godfather is arguably one of the greatest films of all time. That’s of course helped by the incredible performances and engrossing storyline. But, the reason it makes this list is the opening wedding scene. The Godfather opens with a traditional Sicilian wedding! Setting the tone for this now classic film, Connie Corleone’s wedding brings you right into the family’s politics.

Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) in Movies

This is the best type of filler. Paul Rudd’s charismatic hero returned to the big-screen in a sequel that was fun, if not as interesting as its predecessor. The villain is good though and definitely better than the irritating Yellowjacket.
Michelle Pfieffer adds a touch of class to proceedings, even if she’s an underused presence and the return of Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym is great fun. This second outing for the pint-sized hero is great to watch, if completely forgettable.

KarenRC (6 KP) rated This Little Piggy (DI Rosalind Kray, #2) in Books
Jul 23, 2018
Told from almost alternate perspectives of Roz and Kevin, this story zooms along with twists and revelations aplenty. Although we know that Kevin is the killer almost from very early on, the full details are held back and we find out as and when Roz does.
Another brilliantly done tale from Rob. The murdery side is as grisly and graphic as ever and Roz is as intuitive and ballsy as before. Can’t wait for no.3!

Re-read 2018:
I completely stand by my 4* rating and first review. This was an extremely enjoyable read.
But, one note I will add is this: My re-read was because I could remember very, very little of the story. And I reckon, given another year, I will have likely forgotten it all over again.
First review 2015:
I feel all warm and fuzzy. And smiley.
This was adorable.
Less-is-more writing style; relatable characters; intriguing thread of mystery: A wonderful story -well paced and very satisfying.

The Craggus (360 KP) rated Widows (2018) in Movies

Widows (2018) is the movie Ocean's 8 wants to be when it grows up. #Review
With the pedigree of talent behind and in front of the camera, you’d be forgiven for expecting “Widows” to be something very special. And you’d be right, too. Director Steve McQueen, sharing screenwriting duties with Gillian Flynn (“Gone Girl”) in adapting a 1983 British TV series by Lynda La Plante, creates a polished, compellingly multi-layered ensemble drama; the female-led heist movie “Ocean’s 8” wants to be when it grows up...
