Peter Brownhill (1 KP) rated The Greatest Showman (2017) in Movies
Jul 7, 2018
I was undecided whether to watch this film. musicals generally don't appeal to me (there are exceptions). however my wife wanted to watch it so I bought her the blu-ray and we sat down on a Saturday night and watched it. I was really very pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. I'm a big fan of Hugh Jackman anyway I don't remember a bad film he's been in and I think he's a fantastic all round entertainer. I felt some of the songs seemed a bit samey and forgettable but the story and acting were good. Zac Efron I think redeemed himself from the drivel he's been in recently. It was a shame about some dodgy cgi in places but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it.
4 stars!
I really enjoyed reading this book, I thought it was well written, well edited and it kept my interest from beginning to end. This is not the type of book that I usually go for but going through an unplanned pregnancy alone (under different circumstances) I wanted to read something that I might possibly be able to relate to...and in some way I did. The reason why I knocked off a star was because some of the author's decisions made me a bit twitchy eyed...but hey it's each to their own. Overall, I did enjoy this memoir about an unwanted pregnancy after a one night stand and I felt good to be able to follow the journey of a woman in a similar situation as me but from a different world.

Earlier this year, I picked up a novel (re)named '[b:Hal Spacejock 1: A robot named Clunk|12381591|Hal Spacejock 1 A robot named Clunk|Simon Haynes|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1524681176s/12381591.jpg|1083521].
I enjoyed it, but thought it was nothing special.
Recently, I saw an advert on Facebook (I think), for the first three of the Hal Spacejock (yes, that's the real name of one of the characters!) novels and a bonus short story for 99pence. As I'd been reading a lot of heavier fare recently, and as it was only 99p, I thought I would pick it up.
And, I have to say, I enjoyed this one (the second in that collection) more than I remember enjoying the first, complete with a few actually laughed-out-loud moments!

Sara Cox (1845 KP) rated Their Lips Talk of Mischief in Books

I have never given up on a book before. But I found the characters and writing very pretentious. If you haven't read a ton of obscure books, a lot of references will be lost on you as a reader. After 40 pages I personally couldn't take it any more.

I was hesitant going into the theater for this one. I read a few reviews before I went... Which was dumb. I loved this movie. Matthew Vaughn directs very beautiful violent scenes. I also loved Eggsy. I was a little sad that Merlin was killed off. Also, going into it, I wasn't sure that bringing back Harry or, Galahad Sr, was a good idea. But, the way he was worked back into the story, I was alright with it. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it again.
A great app!
I love Smashbomb as an app. Honestly, I didn't use the computer platform much--I have a computer but I go through phases of wanting to use it. As an app, though, I find myself checking in 5-10 times a day to see reactions to things I have posted or to check the next big thing. I always check reviews before I purchase/download anything, and this platform allows me to do so on the go. What's not to love?

A bit of a disappointment
I will start by saying, I LOVE Chris Pratt, I think he is amazing.
I has high hopes and was really looking forward to seeing this movie. But to me it didn't live up to expectations, I can't really put my finger on why but I didn't enjoy it that much. There was a few funny bits, emotional bits. But I didn't really find myself getting lost in the film.
I was disappointed, but it was watchable. It was ok

I was excited when I won a copy. I devoured this book in 3 days. I had forgotten how much I enjoy reading Nora Roberts. This book will not disappoint her fans.
