A sombre and beautifully written outlook on a South Korean massacre
Once again Han Kang has written a haunting piece of literature very different from her award-winning debut novel The Vegetarian.
The intricate meshing of narratives of several stories across generations explains the disturbing effects of the Gwangju uprising - South Korea's Tiananmen Square massacre. There are elements of spirits attempting to reach friends and family members after being killed by government forces. The language is melancholic and beautiful, and entire story is an absolute tragedy.

"Get your ass to Mars."
So, I didn't actually see this film until the remake was in the process of being made. The film is based upon 'We Can Remember it for You Wholesale' by Phillip K. Dick (which is excellent). Arnold Schwarzenegger isn't an award winning actor, but he was completely entertaining (as he is in most films). The weird, early 1990s SFX where a little bizarre, e.g., the face generator. Overall, it's entertaining and well paced, and I may just watch it again this afternoon.

Great cast (1 more)
Very good action scenes
Cops and Robbers
A brilliant cops and robbers film, the best of its genre since @Heat (1995) in my eyes. Also quite similar to @The Departed (2006) so if you like those two, who doesn't? You'll want to see this. Based on an award winning book for crime writing "Prince of Thieves". This has great action, a fine cast, interesting story, the whole thing oozes class. Ben Affleck directs and does a great job. Very enjoyable check it out!

It is what it is - fantasy action
Its no award winning movie, but for entertainment sake, if you love fantasy, and you love action, this movie is it! It takes both genres and bends them into each other. As a fantasy author, I LOVED the creativity shown in this movie, in the cultural inclusion/seclusion, the political nuances, and the crash of fantasy into a modern world that mirrors our own. There is a lot to be said about the parallels that can be drawn from this fantasy movie to current states of affairs in our world today. Sit back and enjoy, folks!

It made me laugh, what can I say
This is not some award winning piece of film, this was meant to be a comedy and it was. I have always been a fan of Goldie Hawn fan, going way back to Overboard and Private Benjamin. Amy Schumer is funny as hell and she makes me laugh. Not the a movie that made me have to pee my pants but it did make me laugh from time to time and I enjoyed the interaction between Hawn and Schumer.
Definitely worth watching if you can catch it streaming.

Yes it does border on cheesy at times and the acting and one liners from Van-Damme (and mullet) are pretty ropey but this is still definitely one of his better movies. Nobody watches these sort of films for an academy award winning performance, they watch them for the action and being a John Woo film the action scenes are largely very satisfying here ( complete with familiar Woo staples - birds and flappy coats) . I liked the 'Hostel' like plot of rich people hunting the poor and thought Lance Henriksen was on good form as a memorable bad guy. All in all it's a good fun easy bit of action.

EPIC
One of the best movies ever made. The story of an honest banker who finds out his wife is cheating on him and is accused of her and her lovers murder is sent to Shawshank prison for two consecutive life terms. He is put through all the horrible things we hear about in prision. However he befriends an inmate who has been there for a long time who controls the smuggling of hard to get stuff in. Morgan freeman and Tim Robbins give Epic award winning performances in this suspenseful, dramatic movie that never has a dull moment in it. I dare you to try and watch it and take a bathroom break cause you just can't
Suswatibasu (1701 KP) rated The Things I Would Tell You: British Muslim Women Write in Books

A multitude of wonderful voices
From Lebanon to Pakistan, there is a whole host of female Muslim voices in this wonderful pioneering collection.
Some of the stand out stories, essays and poems include a man reconnecting with art through a woman's eyes, to political stories about the apartheid state of Palestine, so-called "honour crimes", and the illegal war in Iraq. The writers involved are award-winning authors such as Kamila Shamsie, actors, and even a young 15 year old poet - all based in the UK.
It avoids stereotypes and instead advocates quite a humanist outlook on femininity - that a person is complex, with a full range of emotions rather than just the standard media portrayal. A wonderful plethora of diversity.

The puppets are well integrated into the live action (2 more)
Bad taste humour at times
It is funny
The Muppets is definately isn't....
Only watched based on the trailer on Netflix and have to say I wasn't disappointed... Don't expect an academy award winning film and you won't be upset.
The puppets fit in with the live actors and the production works well. The humour is often in bad taste but not offensive unless you are one of those people who take offense just for the sake of it...
It was an enjoyable way to pass the time and I did find myself laughing out loud even though I was on my own while watching it and that doesn't happen often...

Very entertaining
This award winning podcast has gradually become one of my favourite podcasts. It's a simple enough idea - married couple Dave and Cathy go and see a movie, and then discuss it while walking home from the cinema. Sometimes, depending on the movie genre, one of them will be replaced by a friend or relative, but the majority of the shows are just them.
A lot of the enjoyment comes from their bickering, listening to a married couple lightheartedly fight when they disagree on certain elements in the movie. It's the kind of thing anyone who goes to the movies with family or friends will be used to and it's that familiarity and down to earth conversation, along with the fact that they both have very easy on the ears Irish accents, that makes this so entertaining.
