As someone with an autoimmune disease, this movie (and the book) are so important to me.

I initially watched the movie before reading the book, and I loved it enough to buy the book and read it all the way through. Reading the book showed me the changes they made, and made me not like the movie as much. I would still be willing to watch it again.

A good Gen X movie
This is a great movie to bad it did not meassure up to the book. Now saying that i gave it an 8. If it followed the book to a tee you could have had 2 or 3 movies easy from it. As a child of the 80s this movie hit home. It had both the feel of the 80s and the since of a dystopian future. I highly recommend watching the movie and reading the book, do it that order.

Enjoyable read
Loved the book - characters are likeable but easy to dislike at same time!! Hard to put down book as you want to find out how it's going to turn out. Ruined by making the film tho!!!

Outrageous
I watch the movie version of this multiple times growing up, but I had never read the book. After reading the book I must say that it and the movie are both wonderfully told stories. The book differs greatly from the movie, but Forrest adventures could never be contained in the short time frame of a single movie.
The great thing about this book is that it is not contained to a single adventure. Even after reading it I don't understand how so many stories manage to fit into a single novel. Each of Forrest's stories flows nicely into the next. This causes the ridiculousness of each adventure to make perfect sense in the overall story.
Anyone who enjoys the movie needs to read this book. It is an easy to read masterpiece that stands far above other stories of its kind.

This book needs to be made into a movie. I cried so hard at the end! Great read. :)

Ok: A book to movie adaptation question
Do y'all ever avoid the movie adaptation because you didn't want to ruin the book you love? If so, which films have you avoided?
For me, I've never seen The Notebook or The Lovely Bones because I loved those two books so much.

I find that if I read the book first, I hate the film adaptation and vice versa. I hate when important plot points from the books have been left out, or things have been added in, which weren't necessary .The only film adaptations which I enjoyed both the films and the books, were 'Lord of the Rings' and 'Harry Potter.'

One of the Best Movies of the Year
This book-to-screen story is like candy to my nerd girl heart. After watching the movie I immediately read the book. #bookwasbetter but the movie is incredible. It's visual effects and cinematic elements will leave viewers captivated and begging for more.
