After reading the book and finding out the writer was involved with the screen play, I was excited to see this film. I regretted purchasing a ticket for this movie after the first 15 minutes. Both the book and movie follow a teen named Wade. They both take place in a dystopian style story. However the movie portrays Wade as a one dimensional character, giving his best thoughts, words, and feelings to other characters. Wade in the book was a well rounded character who was smart, witty, and at times sarcastic. Reading the book you can believe that Wade has the ability to beat the game he’s playing for control of the oasis. In the movie he is girl obsessed and just not the character I followed through the oasis to win the game. If you haven’t read the book, or only want to check out the graphics, then this movie is for you. If you loved the book, as I did, just keep the story in your imagination and skip the movie.

For such a short book this was pleasant to listen to - I saw the movie ages ago and I honestly remembered nothing of the end of this book - I didn't realize it was a series either - kind of makes me want to read the rest. The psychology around this character and the whole book was epic and Norman is kind of a villain you love in a way - or at least for me - it also kind of makes me want to watch the movie again. A must read I'd say if you've seen movie.

The story will make your heartbroken. I know there a movie called the same thing but the ending has changed from the books ending. If you watched the movie before reading this book your are going to get surprise ending either way but especially by the book ending.

Anna doe go to court hearing to get a medical emancipation from her parents. You see how each member of the family is suffering from her older sister Kate illness. It is something you should have tissures around for it a bit sad. You also start to understand the movie a bit but I really like the book better then the movie. Though I was shock to see what sister dies in book.

Star Wars: Before the Awakening by Greg Rucka is a collection of 3 shorter stories, one each about Finn, Rey, and Poe that more or less leads up to The Force Awakens movie. While neither is reliant on needing knowledge of the other (if you've seen the movie, for instance, you don't need to read the book), the book does flesh out a little background on the characters before we're introduced to them in the movie, so if you like the movie, I'd say this would be a great companion piece to read.

Wow! Just Wow!
I am always skeptical of movie adaptations. Most of the time, there are many things that do not hold up to the book and make the movie hard to watch. That was not the case with this movie! The writers and directors did an amazing job at staying as accurate to the book as possible. They really brought it to life. I was sobbing almost the entire movie because of how moving and powerful the acting was!

The movie would have been much better if i had not read the book first. Ive read it atleast 15 times before i watched the movie and it did not do it justice. But its understandable though. It would take to much time and money to completely make the book into reality. Also most things would be pretty hard to recreate that you had imagined while reading the book.

Normally, I like to read a book before I see a movie, but this book wasn't available from the library prior to me seeing the movie. Well, luckily, it's completely different. I'm not going to compare them at all.
This was a quick read. The first person narrative worked well with the story. The story was interesting and well paced. I'll definitely read the next book in the series.

Good ... but the book is better
I read the book first so the movie had a lot to live up to in my opinion and just couldn't quite do it. It is nice to have a Christian based movie in the theaters. But a movie just about God's grace and the trinity is a huge undertaking. That being said, it was well done and I'd watch it again.

The book is good, but the movie is better
A rare case where the movie is better than the book. I like the changes they made, especially Lex, who in the book is not only brat, which I could handle, but she's stupid as f*** too. I don't think most eight-year-olds are quite this idiotic. Otherwise, it's a good book and I did enjoy the information that expanded onto what the movie was limited to provide.

I liked the book. It added some much needed back-story to a good movie.

What I don't understand is everyone complaining about the ending. I re-watched the movie right after I finished the book, just to see if I missed something...it ended just the same!

So...either I got a bad edition of the book...or I am just missing something glaringly obvious!
