"I worked hard at German so that I could read Brecht, but was saved by watching his plays performed live at Mannheim by an excellent company. However, it was Marc Blitzstein’s 1954 translation of Threepenny Opera in a tiny theater off-Broadway that electrified me with “Mack the Knife” and “Pimp’s Ballad.”"

"Hart rose from grinding poverty in Brooklyn to the heights of Broadway success in writing and directing. Act One is easily the best show — business autobiography — a riveting story that risks promoting the foolish idea that if you chase your dream and never give in, you will succeed. Bull. A few will. Hart did."

"I'm a big fan of 'A Little Opera Goes a Long Way,' by Sky Sailing: [sings] Pretend you're not alone / Like you are center stage on Broadway / 'Cause when you are on your own / A little opera goes a long way. That was my theme song for the first few days of living solo."

As 1902 comes to a close, Molly is trying to balance multiple cases, including finding out who is threatening a Broadway star making a comeback. The story moved forward quickly, and the characters were at their best.

From Broadway to big screen
Rock of ages takes us on the story of a small town girl who is living in a lonely world, who comes to the bright light big city of Los Angeles only to get robbed and have to work at one of the most famous bars on the strip. This movie follows her story about life in the big city and living amonungst rock and roll during the 80's. She is up, she is down, and rises to top again but not in the way you think.

On Broadway Dee Snyder from Twisted sister played the lead character of Stacy Jaxx the famed rock and roller, who is drunk but is so popular who cares right. Our switch to Tom Cruise to film was not the right person to sing. He can act but, if we remember top gun lets be real.

Other major actors and singers who grace the silver screen in this movie are

Alec, Baldwin, Russel Brand, Catherine Zeta Jones, Julianne Hough and Mar J Blige.

The music and sound track were worth seeing the movie especially if you saw it on Broadway but this was yet another way to let america get to see a show that was only in NY.

I took my kids to see this at least 12 years ago and we loved it. No matter where you sit, you are bound to see the performers up close and personal as some walk through the aisles.

The songs and costumes were great. It was a perfect introduction to Broadway for my young kids.

"How incredible of a cast [director Sidney Lumet] had in that movie. That was a who’s who. I heard that when Sidney did that movie, most of the guys were doing Broadway plays. So somehow they worked out the timing so they would shoot on certain days. Amazing to see. I got the opportunity to work with Sidney — ended up doing Q & A with him."

"I like Woody Allen. Crime and Misdemeanors I liked a lot. I think it’s just wonderful. I also enjoy many of those — I like Hannah and Her Sisters, and Husbands and Wives; I like Broadway Danny Rose. This morning I was watching Love and Death, with Diane Keaton which I like a lot. But Crimes and Misdemeanors is maybe the best one of those."

Remains one of my favorite movies in any genre.
No, I didn't watch the ridiculous TV reboot or the short-lived Broadway show, nor will I. The original holds up just fine with its commentary on society and political correctness. Christian Slater does some of his best work, and Winona Ryder can do no wrong. Plus, baby Shannen Doherty! (she's just 17 here!)

An absolute classic in my book.

Not as good as West End or Broadway but still fantastic!
Every now and then, a Kinky Boots song appears on my Spotify shuffle. I'm particularly fond of Land of Lola and Raise You Up. The costumes, the songs, the energy! It was so brilliant! We were on our feet the whole time! It was like watching a live Drag Show and I'm already a huge fan of Rupauls Drag Race. Lol was played by Kayi Ushe, a stunningly tree of a man who made the most gorgeous Lola. His voice was entrancing! And Charlie was played by Joel Harper-Jackson, and was absolutely perfect in playing a shy awkward man who turned into a confident sexy shoe maker! And I only remember her because she was on Corrie but Paula Lane played Charlie's love interest. Overall it was a brilliant show and as much as it may have been better on Broadway or the West End, I'm proud to have watched it in my home town and support the fabulous actors!
