The pacing and timeline of this movie are pretty awful. I go out of my way to enjoy movies, especially when they are based on true events, but there was almost nothing likable here.
Emma Watson and Leslie Mann are both usually pretty good at feeding off of the other cast members but everything in this movie just seemed to fall flat.
The subject matter is relatively interesting if not for pure desire to understand the mindset of the characters, but nothing in the movie will provide that insight.
Watch almost anything else instead.

I went into this excited and yet terrified. What if they destroyed a classic in this attempt to retell one of my favorite stories? I walked out of it thrilled. The special effects were completely on point (was definitely worried about some of those scenes), and the inclusion of a touch more background into Belle's life and even the Beast's life added so much to the film.
And Emma Watson...thank God she actually enjoys reading so much in real life or it'd be sort of tragic to think of how many rolls she gets where she's an avid book nerd. :-)

Not enough Elton John
A little too processed for me. Action scenes were good I guess in a second rate John Wick kind of way. I guess these types of movies bore me now a little. Maybe it's my inner movie snob coming out.
I was never bored while watching, but seems like a waste of good talent like Jeff Bridges, Julianne Moore, Emma Watson, etc.
Tried too hard to be Bond, Borne and Wick and doesn't really succeed at any of them. Humor was the standout which made it more watchable.

Being a lover of Disney movies, while this along with two other movies being my absolute favorite. Hearing they were gonna make another 'Beauty and the Beast' I was ecstatic I immediately went to theaters. I don't think I've ever payed so much attention to a movie in a long time. I usually watch a movie one, maybe two times but I have watched this to many times to count. I personally loved Emma Watson playing Belle I don't know of anyone who could fit the role better. I still don't like Gaston, but I love the movie just as much as I did the original!

That is until he starts a new year of school when he meets Sam played by Emma Watson and Patrick (Ezra Miller) two very free spirited older students and their friends. They help Charlie discover love, friendship and music, encourage him to be the writer he can be, and give him life. We all know the story, but I haven't watched the original one for many years and don't remember much about it. This is actually quite good although some of the CGI didn't quite work and looked dated but I expect that was to keep in with the theme. Having not read or seen much of the blurb about the film, I was nicely surprised by the number of stars who appear in it, of course you don't get to see them until the end. The only problem is having grown up watching the Harry Potter films I kept expecting Emma Watson to cast a spell but that is probably because I haven't seen much of her other films. Watch it.

Could have been so much better
I'm a little disappointed with this film. On paper it sounds great, but in reality it's very badly executed.
It's very similar to Black Mirror, although nowhere near as dark or good. The idea is a good one and one very close to home considering how advanced technology is nowadays. It is a good take on social media and technology companies, it just doesn't quite work although at times it does make you feel rather uncomfortable at how all this is used. The problem is it comes across as a little boring and unengaging at times, and characters actions seem a bit bizarre. Tom Hanks and John Boyega are greatly underused although Emma Watson doesn't do too badly as the lead. I didn't get the ending either, it just didn't seem to fit and was a little confusing.

What Beauty and the Beast rises or falls on is the love story, and here, allowed to slow down to let in intimate moments, the movie catches fire. Hobbled by a motion capture process that forced him to walk on stilts and wear a huge muscle suit covered in Lycra, Stevens goes beyond the call of family-musical duty to give us a flawed human being instead of a special effect; his is a Beast worth saving. Those are his eyes gazing down with passion at Watson's Beauty, his voice choked with genuine ardor. And suddenly, in a movie built on the bones of what preceded it, there is something there that wasn't there before. I'd call that an exhilarating gift.

The whole movie feels hollow
More beast than beauty
After watching jon favreau's fantastic the jungle book I was hyped to see what disney did with their 2nd attempt at a live action remake of their animated library of classics. Unfortunately it's no where near as polished imo. There is some good performances though. Josh gad is hilarious as LeFou and contributes the majority of the comedy. However the lack of emotion in what's supposed to be an emotional romance is lost in this movie. The choice to use a cgi beast baffles me. And there is so many opportunities with a cast as strong as this but unfortunately Bill Condon fails to stir up the romance and emotion that the animation did in 1991. Emma Watson took me off guard me with her singing which was a pleasant surprise. Overall it was fairly entertaining however with the calibre of talent on show i kinda expecred more.

Great performances let down by the pace
I read Little Women quite a few years ago, and other than remembering the basic plot details, I went into this film with barely any preconceptions. And for the most part, it does quite well.
This film is all about the performances. I've always liked Saoirse Ronan and Timothee Chalamet, I think they're both charismatic and fantastic actors and any time these two are on screen in this film (either together or separately), it really is marvellous to watch. Throwing in a great turn from Florence Pugh and some wonderful support from Laura Dern, Chris Cooper, Meryl Streep and (a sadly forgettable) Emma Watson, the acting in this is pretty stellar
The major problem however is the pacing. The plot is interesting, but it's let down by the plodding dreadfully slow pace and a just over 2 hour film feels like a lifetime. It's such a shame, as had this been sped up a little or had a little of the runtime shaved off, it'd be a truly fantastic period drama.
