Alison Pink (7 KP) rated Mr Mercedes in Books
Jan 15, 2018
Well this book started off a bit on the slow side...not like King normally. But let me tell you, once the story got rolling it was hard to put down! And in true Stephen King fashion the ending was fantastic!! My jaw hit the floor & I found myself thinking, "okay, so when does the next book come out!?" The characters are true & real. The plot itself could easily be ripped from the headlines. I can't wait for more!

H.R. Giger's designs (3 more)
Great Sfx that stand out even today
The building tension
Some genuine make you jump moments
A cult classic
A great film on so many levels. I love the Alien designs and look of the found spaceship by H.R. Giger. The film is genuinely scary with some iconic scenes. It slowly becomes a game of Alien and mouse aboard a spaceship, providing a claustrophobic setting. If you haven't seen this where have you been?

A must for any horror fan
Stranger Things was such a fun show to watch I binged it in one sitting and could easily watch it multiple times without minding. As some who is a horror junkie, I loved all the nods they did to the classics in the genre.
The only reason I couldn't give it a full 10/10 is the characters I hated I just truly not only hated but found really damn annoying.

Boring, protagonist is irritating
I'm not going to lie but I struggled to get into this book mostly because it's not the usual genre I prefer. I found the story sinfully boring mostly because all the main character does is run around for the entire book. He also seems super cocky throughout, and for those who hate James Bond - will equally find this annoying. That being said, it's not what I generally read so you might actually enjoy it.
Lumos (380 KP) rated The Resistance in Tabletop Games
Apr 26, 2018
This game is alright. I know there are a lot of people who love these games, I'm just a terrible liar and not great at the strategies this game requires. If I am on the resistance side, I am always found out. This makes the game less fun for me and my teammates. I would much rather watch the game be played as it has very interesting dynamics and it is fun to see how everyone's mind works.
Ruth Frampton (577 KP) rated The Snow Bear in Books
Apr 10, 2018
A sweet little story that sees the two children create a snowbear and then take it with them into the woods to play. Here their imagination takes hold and the adventure begins. What could be frightening for some little ones, this story has a safe ending and would be good for encouraging safe feelings.
My little one found it easy enough to read herself and spent time retelling the story from the images. Always a bonus.

Minview:
I wish I'd read this closer to when it first came out. I think I would have enjoyed it more had I not gotten to know the characters these characters (oh boy, almost got confused there!) are based on better and found the book's portrayals lacking. :/ Why would Richard Castle write his fictional counterpart as a wimpy idiot? And yes, I know that Castle <spoiler>is fictional himself. I was quite heartbroken to find that out. ;P)</spoiler>.

The stories are interesting, but the author's tendency to put herself into the text was off-putting and an annoyance. I found her pretentious and didn't appreciate how she seemed to think herself an expert in psychology. I'm not saying she might not be correct in certain cases, but the way she presented her "diagnoses" made it sound like those were the concrete conclusions. I have my doubts. Very dated and uninspired, with, surprisingly, many typos.

I found this book at on a bench at a park and could not put it down.
The Rum Diary is an early novel by Hunter S. Thompson. It was written in the early 1960s but was not published until 1998.
In this tale you will read about drinking rum, eating burgers, some journalism, rum, the twisted minds of people, rum and more rum while following a American journalist working at a paper in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

This was picked for my book club, I really really tried my hardest to enjoy reading it, but for all my best efforts I had to give up. I aren't a great lover of non fiction books anyway unless it is something I really enjoy learning about. But the way he has written it was far too textbookish for me and I found it too hard to keep my concentration on it.
