What took me so Long!
I can not belive how long it took me to see this film. I am a huge nerd, and a lover of Easter egs, so this should have been a cinema go for me (ypu remember what cinemas were, don't you?)
A film that takes a very interesting look at a possible future where VR is king. Not going to lie, I would be totally up for this future (-evil corperations, but what are the odds we can get rid of them). It is interesting, since this came out the year before the pandemic, how amazing would it be to meet up with all the people we have not seen in a year, in a virtual cafe, or game together. All we have now is Zoom and Among Us.
I digress, this film had me hooked from the first moment. The characters are compelling, though J suspect they have been "Hollywooded" a little bit, and the story is really good.
You know what I have to do now, don't you?
Read the books. And wouldn't you know it, some very considerate person put them in my Amazon shopping basket....

Solid 80's Film
I've seen a lot of 80's films this year alone. I have to say, I had just as much fun watching Three O'Clock High as I did any of the other more familiar 80's titles, in some cases moreso. The comedy is about a nerd who gets on a bully's bad side and gets challenged to a fight after school. Jerry (nerd in question) spends his entire day doing whatever he can to try and get out of the fight and the antics that ensue are hilarious.

Acting: 10

Beginning: 4
Definitely the weakest part of the film. The beginning of the day drags out as they follow every single facet of Jerry's routine. I understand that they are trying to show the audience how boring Jerry was, but I don't think it needed to take that long.

Characters: 10

Cinematography/Visuals: 7
So many great memorable shots. The scene in the library. Jerry's poetry reading in class where he's hitting on the teacher. The big climax. Director Phil Joanou does an excellent job of capturing the intensity and emotion from each moment.

Conflict: 10
Jerry doesn't want to get beat up so he's willing to do any and everything to get out of the proposed fight. Things never seem to get old as Jerry's efforts lead him down a rabbit hole of trouble. It only gets funnier as the story progresses.

Genre: 7

Memorability: 8
The film is captured and progresses in such a way that you can't help but remember a number of scenes that played out. I don't want to spoil the fun, but it's definitely a film you will want to again once you're done. I think that has a lot to do with Jerry's crazy character development over the course of the story.

Pace: 10
A less than stellar beginning is quickly corrected with nonstop comedy and action-driven moments. I couldn't wait to see what was going to happen next as Jerry pushes the envelope from one scene to the next. Among other things, I appreciated the film's consistency.

Plot: 10

Resolution: 9
Not perfect, but gets the job done. Not to mention, it's light years better than the beginning. Kind of cheesy, but in a good way.

Overall: 85
If you're looking for a fun movie night or a way to expand your 80's film palate, Three O'Clock High is definitely worth your time. Solid film.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)
Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle (2017)

A good sequel
Most sequel's leave bored or really disappointing but, in this case I was very happy with it. The movie is made to be more modern. Instead of a board game it is made into a video game and has great cast. 4 High School teens that are from 4 different cliques are given detention and find an old video game and of course hook it up to an old tv and get sucked into the game. Well their lives do a complete 180 for characters of the the game (the nerd who is weak is strong and fearless, The jock who was strong is the small and weak sidekick, The popular pretty girl is now a fat older man lol and the shy girl is now the kick ass hot girl) and have to work together to use their particular set of skills to return the jewel of Jumanji to it's rightful place. The movie is filled with a great cast who is not only funny but have to kind of change their own selves to mimic the kids that they have become. To me Jack Black has the greatest range and to play the character he does shows how far he can go.

The Fifth Element (1997)
The Fifth Element (1997)

Shes so fragile, so human.
Number 4 in my #top10 #favourite films 'The Fifth Element'
------------------------------------------
Flawless #comedy, bursting with creativity, a fantastic & unique story, visually outstanding with stunningly intricate costume & set design #TheFifthElement is a masterpiece. #LucBesson is a genius & really has managed to create a #scifi #world brimming with #life, progress & great ancient lore while housing complex/interesting characters that are all played by the perfect cast. Luc is such a talented director creating a clever contrast of #dark, #violent, disturbing & adult themes mixed with wacky, #camp, #comedic & #childish tones that #complement each other & that flow together so technically well that most #superhero movie directors these days still struggle with getting this balance right. #Music invokes such dread & wonder too while dialog is so sensational it makes The Fifth Element possibly the most quotable film I've ever seen. Its really a #film that I can not praise highly enough & having such a great mix of genres makes it easily accessible to everyone. Without a doubt one of my favourite #love stories of all time & definitely my favourite sci-fi, if you haven't seen it you really are missing out. ------------------------------------------------

Connilyn Cossette continues to bring a refreshing voice to Biblical Fiction. Expanding the horizons and bringing us thrilling and captivating stories to satisfy this nerd girl's heart.

I absolutely love discovering what life was like in ancient times. Cossette brings the lives of these people and their cultures to life in ways that will astound you. Sofea grew up in an isolated culture. Throughout this story, she is on a journey to learn who this God of the Hebrews is. His gentleness, His kindness, His love for His children. Eitan is a swoony hero in all his long-haired, bearded manliness...A protector and a fighter. Don't you dare come between him and those he loves...You will regret it. I loved watching their romance unfold. With two cultures clashing, you can imagine that it wasn't all smooth. But the results were definitely worth it.

I highly recommend Connilynn's stories (yes, all of them). She opens the history books for us in a way that is unique and compelling. I can not get enough of her stories, and neither will you!
