Ryan Gosling plays (Driver) and he plays an absolute blinder in this dark and atmospheric film. Despite portraying this loner, quiet type, well mannered cool looking mechanic. Driver (that's all we know him by) has another side to him. The whole LA city thing is just shot perfectly. I can't get enough of this film, it's that good.

A stunningly beautiful film, every frame is a painting, but also a stunningly violent film. RYAN GOSLING does his usual 10 words a picture when he works with director NICOLAS WINDING REFN and the story is WAY better than their last collaboration 'Drive'. Performance wise it is KRISTIN SCOTT THOMAS that own this picture. Talk about domineering. Must also give mad props to cinematographer LARRY SMITH who made everything and I do mean everything so damn beautiful. He may be the only person to get an Oscar nomination from this and he deserves not only the nomination, but the win.

Today I met one of my favourite actresses Jena Malone, a true 'diamond in a sea of glass' and star of my favourite film of all time 'The Neon Demon' by Nicolas Winding Refn.
------------------------------------------
What an absolutely stunning and down to earth woman.
She was so lovely, intelligent, friendly, interesting and really genuine too.
------------------------------------------
Just an all round beautiful person that was so happy to engage with her fans and spend some time talking to me about the movies that I adore.
 ------------------------------------------
I feel so lucky and privileged to have met her as who would of guessed that one day I would actualy get to meet someone from a film that means so much to me.
So happy and totally overwhelmed right now đź’ś.

Beautifully Brutal
I saw this movie years ago and recently re-watched it. Tom Hardy has given some great performances over the years, but an argument could be made for this being his best. He is in almost every scene in the movie and he commands the screen masterfully. He is domineering yet endearing, in other words you can't take your eyes off of this guy, but you wouldn't want to be left in a room alone with him either. You really do get a sense of him being extremely dangerous and highly unpredictable.

The movie was directed by Nicolas Winding Refn and his unique directorial style works well in the context of this insane story. Refn clearly took influence from other stories of violent insanity, such as A Clockwork Orange and Natural Born Killers, but the movie wears this on its sleeve and never feels derivative for it. The cinematography and lighting are also well implanted in the film, shot by Larry Smith, who has previously worked with Kubrick on Eyes Wide Shut and The Shining. The addition of Smith's eerily pretty camera work adds to the off kilter tone that the movie maintains throughout.

I also like the way that this movie is structured. It comes across as erratic and unconventional, but this is intentional and serves the bizarre narrative perfectly. You have to remember that this is an insane person recalling his deranged memories to an audience inside his own head, it is going to be sporadic and manic at times.

Overall, I think Bronson is a fantastic view into a severely fractured psyche. It is a disturbing and intense watch, so it may not be for everyone, especially if aggressive violence bothers you, but I think it is a masterful film, with one of the greatest lead performances I have ever seen.

The Neon Demon (2016)

A combination that looks like it may be a vapid display of glitz and garbage, the trailers for “Neon Demon” don’t dare give away just how far this film will take audiences.

Completely unique, the psychological thriller goes to dark places – necrophilia, cannibalism, and the solitary confines of the human mind.

The film stars Elle Fanning as Jesse, a sixteen year old girl from a small town who decided to go to LA to become a model. Without any parents, Jesse is completely on her own in a seedy wonderland.

She stays by herself in a dingy motel. Keanu Reeves plays the grubby motel manager, Hank. His role in the film is more of a supportive one, but he still plays a major part in the overall story and feel of the film.

Of course, Jesse meets all kinds of odd people as she dives into a world that is so shallow it could break her. Makeup artist Ruby (Jena Malone), and supermodels Gigi (Bella Heathcote) and Sarah (Abbey Lee) are characters the audience will love to hate. Malone, Heathcote, and Lee have done a great job becoming their characters. They incite visceral disdain, perhaps laced with admiration.

There may be a few moments where it feels like the plot is going nowhere fast, but I highly recommend resisting the urge to lose hope. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts in this case.

It’s not a stretch to say that Director Nicolas Winding Refn has created a piece of cinematic art.

The combination of finely selected camera technique, psychedelic lighting, and a cerebral soundtrack is like watching a beautiful nightmare.

Best described as “Clockwork Orange” meets “Top Model,”
