Gripping and creepy
I will start off by saying I might be biased when it comes to dramas like this. I love true crime, especially ones based here in the UK. It may be because of where I work or my educational background, or just because true crime is a fascinating subject. Whatever the reason, I've heard about Dennis Nilsen before and this short series is a truly excellent depiction of him and his crimes.
Right from the start this is a gripping and chilling watch. It has a slow pace but fortunately not enough that it ever drags too much. The soundtrack in this is often haunting and really enhances the tension and suspense, as well as giving you the creeps. And speaking of giving you the creeps, whilst the rest of the cast are very good, the standout is by far David Tennant as the ridiculously creepy Nilsen. He really gives you the chills and watching this you're almost in disbelief that Nilsen was this nonchalant and manipulative. But if you'd watched the "Real Des" documentary shown after this series finished, you'd see that this was actually have Nilsen was. And not only that, but Tennant embodies him perfectly - in looks, accent and general manner and behaviours. I couldn't imagine anyone else playing him so well.
This might not be a pleasant watch for many as whilst it's still a dramatisation, it does go into some gruesome and rather horrific detail on Nilsen's crimes. But it's worth watching for Tennant's stellar performance if nothing else.

This is my first time reading a book by Jan Davis Warren! The Secret Life of Lady Evangeline is the first book in her new Secrets series. From the very first pages this book was an adventure that I did not want to put down.
Lady Evangeline was a remarkably strong women that I wish I could be! She faced a lot of trials and came out with a deeper understanding of the world around her. All the characters in the book were developed at a consistent pace and were interesting. I am hoping that the other books in the series touch on some of the other characters mentioned in this book as Id love to know their stories!
Overall, this story kind of seemed like a cross between Robin Hood and a Princess fairy tale. I enjoyed the storyline. Most of it was not too farfetched, but rather real events brought to life before your eyes. Entertaining and captivating.
give this book 4 out of 5 stars for the attention-grabbing story, the character growth, and for making me anticipate reading more books from this author!

Excellent series telling the story of what did, didn't, might have, might not have happened when a young, clean living college student meets a self-destructive young girl and wakes up next to her dead body. Some poor split second decisions lead to him being locked up for her murder and the prosecution begins. Seeing how the main character changes after being wrongly (?) imprisoned even before the court case gets moving has been done before but not with this much intensity and emotion. Truly excellent.

[A Plague of Shadows] by [Travis Simmons] was a very quick read. I really enjoyed the characters and the plot. I see it is called "A New Adult Dark Fantasy" but I do not see what makes it 'adult'. I usually equate that with content that I can't put in my classroom. I did not find any of that in this book. To me it was a simple battle of good vs. evil. I hope to read the next installment in [The Harbingers of Light Series].

Even though I have not read the first two, the book surprised me with how great it was and how much I enjoyed it. I requested it for the erotica, but it was the story that really caught my attention and kept me reading. I became so invested in this novel and its heroine that I could not put the book down until I knew what happened. A perfect read for someone looking for a new series with a great heroine and even better story.

Almost perfect
I toyed between giving this an 8 or 9, and in the end I’ve decided to be generous although I’m still not entirely sure. I was worried I’d hate this series as I’ve heard some say it’s not great, but I actually enjoyed this much more than series 2 and possibly even slightly more than the first series.
My first negative is the story. The whole Russian thing is a little bit ridiculous and far fetched (even for this show), which is a shame as the rest of the plot is intriguing and really rather good. The horror and gore aspects of this are brilliant. I thought this was by far the scariest of the seasons as the Mind Flayer is truly terrifying and beyond creepy. The mixture of retro references, humour and horror works so well and makes it really enjoyable to watch. All of the characters shine, even the new ones like Robin or new-ish ones like Erica, are well developed and fit in well with the rest of the originals. I of course still have a soft spot for Hopper who is just marvellous yet again in this, often rather sinister and darkly hilarious. And the pairing yet again of Steve and Dustin is such fun. The childhood romance thing is a little bit cheesy and sickly sweet, but fortunately bearable for the most part as it takes a backseat to the rest of the action.
My biggest issue with this show, other than the over the top and strangely stupid Russians, and the reason why I was debating giving it a lower score, is the ending. Or rather the end credits scene that ruined everything. The actual ending to this show is one of the most emotional things I’ve seen in a long time in a tv show, and I’m not ashamed to admit I was virtually in tears at the ending. It was such a heartwarming and fitting way to end the show, and really quite lovely in a sad way. It was a great way to round off a show and finish the entire series on a massive high without the need to make another season. However, the end credits scene is pure ‘sequel baiting’ and whilst Netflix haven’t officially confirmed, it already sounds like season 4 is in the making. And I can’t even begin to describe how angry I am at this, why do they insist on ruining a perfectly good ending?! I really wish they hadn’t done this. But this aside, I enjoyed this series quite a lot.
