A really good prequel to a horror classic. It's been a while since I saw the '82 version, so I watched the DVD feature that shows some of the lengths they went to to keep the set design in keeping with the '82 film. This one answers the questions to just what on earth happened at that base! There are plenty of scenes that refer to what they discover in the old film. The effects are great and needed to be. Thankfully it isn't all CGI and they made some good animatronic creature designs to start with.
It's very similar otherwise to the original in how it pans out and takes you right up to the start of the '82 classic. If anything it will make you want to see the original again as well.

A gripping classic
Classics can be a bit boring, but not this classic! Uncle Tom's Cabin is filled with complex plots and characters that you can't help but root for.

You follow the story of uncle Tom, a slave living in Kentucky. His story is one of hardship, pain, and loneliness with beautiful examples of love and faith woven through.

Eliza is also an important character. She's a woman fighting to keep her family together and free. Her adventurous escape is daring and dangerous. Thrilling to say the least!

This book is impossible to put down! It fosters deep thoughts and perspectives about slavery and racism. Not an easy read but definitely worth it!

Everybody Wants to be A Cat
Such a classic, a classic filn that everyone should see. If you havent seen it than watch it. The music, the plot and of course the cats. So many cats. Cats everywhere.

The Plot: When a retired opera singer leaves her inheritance to her cat, Duchess (Eva Gabor), and three kittens, the woman's butler drugs the cats and abandons them in the countryside in order to inherit the fortune himself. Lost in unfamiliar territory, Duchess and the kittens meet Thomas O'Malley (Phil Harris), an alley cat willing to help them return to their home in Paris. They meet several kooky characters along the way, including two English geese and an alley cat jazz band.

Everyone wants to be a cat, right. Meow!!!!

Another re-telling of a classic
So I've seen MANY renditions of this wonderful Charles Dickins story, this one is one i actually really like. It doesn't deviate from the original story, although yes it is quite darker than other tellings. I don't see that as a negative though, it's a dark story it doesn't need to be lightened to shield the darkness of a classic.
When you see Jim Carrey is Ebenezer Scrooge you do question, Hmm, is that really the right person to play this iconic character? The answer is yes. Jim is usually typecast as the funny man but in this he's cast very well. I also like that it's digital 3D which i think is the first time A Christmas Carol has been done in such a way.
