Movie Metropolis (309 KP) rated Ant-Man and the Wasp (2018) in Movies
Jun 10, 2019
This is the best type of filler. Paul Rudd’s charismatic hero returned to the big-screen in a sequel that was fun, if not as interesting as its predecessor. The villain is good though and definitely better than the irritating Yellowjacket.
Michelle Pfieffer adds a touch of class to proceedings, even if she’s an underused presence and the return of Michael Douglas’ Hank Pym is great fun. This second outing for the pint-sized hero is great to watch, if completely forgettable.

Mark @ Carstairs Considers (2357 KP) rated The Villain Virus (NERDS, #4) in Books

Flinch takes center stage in this fourth book in a middle grade series. Part James Bond spoof part adventure, it's another fun ride as everyone on earth starts trying to take it over. And the team survive a new school and figure out why everyone is turning evil and how to stop it? I've loved all of these books so far and can't wait for next year's entry already.

Sean Farrell (9 KP) rated NOS4A2 in Books

Loved this book. Expertly switches between being suspenseful, funny, moving, and downright scary. Packed with little inside references to other books that somehow only serve to make it feel more special, and I was highly amused by the little trick the author frequently used with chapter titles. The lead is highly likeable, the circumstances she is thrust to a perfect blend of frightening and awe-inspiring, and the villain is easily one of the most memorable in years. Anyone with even a passing interest in true works of horror should not miss this epic book.

Erika (17789 KP) rated The Avengers (2012) in Movies

Avengers (Assemble) is, IMO, the best movie to come out of the MCU. Yes, there are plot holes, and it's not a very intelligent movie, but it's a ton of fun. I'm a huge fan of TH's Loki, and he is, by far, the strongest villain thus far in the MCU. It's fast paced and is successful at bringing the gang together. The quips and humor are well timed (unlike AoU) and worked in the film.
Here's hoping Infinity War is more like this film, and nothing like AoU.

Ross (3284 KP) rated Arrow - Season 3 in TV
May 28, 2018
The third season expands Team Arrow further, with Laurel Lance taking over the mantle of her sister, street thug Roy and Oliver's annoying sister Thea joining the team separately. The season focuses on the attempt to bring Malcolm Merlyn to justice, and eventually Oliver is forced to challenge Rhas al Ghul in a fight to the death. This season started to get a bit hammier, more panto, with the villain being quite hard to take seriously. It made me long for the days of Deathstroke and a bit of decent fighting.

For such a short book this was pleasant to listen to - I saw the movie ages ago and I honestly remembered nothing of the end of this book - I didn't realize it was a series either - kind of makes me want to read the rest. The psychology around this character and the whole book was epic and Norman is kind of a villain you love in a way - or at least for me - it also kind of makes me want to watch the movie again. A must read I'd say if you've seen movie.

Not a bad thriller
Contains spoilers, click to show
A thriller about an ex-army man who is forced to take a job in a shopping mall as a night security guard. On his first night a young girl asks for help as people are chasing her. What follows is a good thriller with some interesting twists as the plot unfolds. Ben kingsley as the leader of the bad guys steals this one easily. Antonio Banderas plays the ex-army guy with a dark and disturbing past.

Trippy and oh so fun.
I just can't get over how much I am loving this series! The story moves along really nicely just like the first book you get to know more about the characters and our oh so charming villain the art is beautiful but most of all we get to se another key which is yhe head key and this one really made me sit back and think what I would do with a head key of my own. Can't wait to start the next volume!
