I have been an avid reader ever since I was able to pick up a book and discern a few written words among the pages.

I am a 40 something (for the time being at least) Mother of 2 living with my Partner who hails from Portugal. I work in the finance sector as an Executive Assistant

After a long period of time where I was barely able to finish a book from one month (maybe we should make that plural) to the next, due to having a family and working I have rediscovered my passion for books.

So now with the children fully grown, albeit one still refuses to fly from the nest, I cant get enough of snuggling down and losing myself between the pages.

Although I will pretty much read anything that passes through my hands my main focus is Fantasy, YA Fantasy, all things Paranormal, Thrillers and Mysteries.

When I agreed to take part in the Love Books Group book tour, I honestly thought that I would be immersing myself in a new Fantasy fiction. That one genre I hold close to my heart, where I can truly lose myself in the pages and is my escapism from everyday life. Where the hero’s and heroines win through and live happily every after.

Don’t get me wrong, on the face of it, Impervious is a Fantasy story. You find yourself wrapped up in a Quest with cleverly thought out nods to legends we oh so love. King Arthur, Excalibur and The Lady of the Lake, are those that struck me the most. With bone chilling monsters thrown into the mix.

As I got further into it, I realised there is something underlying, running parallel that you need to scratch, no dig under the surface to find.

It’s that scab that you just have to pick at (no intentions to gross anyone out there, but its the best analogy I can think of at the moment)

It’s not until close to the end that I had that Eureka moment. It was at that moment my heart was wrenched from my chest and the full force of the story hit me like a ton of bricks.

I have no doubt that some of you will have you “Ah Ha” moment a lot earlier than me. I was so wrapped up in the quest that I literally could not see the woods for the trees. But that’s OKAY! I am glad I didn’t figure it out, it kinda would have spoilt it for me.

Trina our protagonist, who pretty much has the full focus throughout, with reason, is just so god damn likeable. Lets give it up for Girl Power!

She takes everything in her stride, or so you are led to believe. Im having to be so careful I don’t give anything away here!

With that said, I am going to just leave you with this……….

This is a well written book, with a truly intricate plot within a plot. Delving into the Psyche and coping mechanisms of a teenage girl. A story with a deep message!

I received my copy from Love Books Group, A.J. Hartley and Uclan Publishing in exchange for an honest review.

For Fans of of cozy mysteries with a paranormal twist, this one is definitely for you!
I had actually read the 2nd book in the series first for review and enjoyed it so much that Melissa sent this one to me also.

The cover alone would have been an instant buy for me, the silhouetted witch against the bright green is so eye catching it literally screams out to you pick me up and read me (You know you want too)!

With Melissa being a professional pet sitter you just know that this would have a nod to pets, and she certainly did not disappoint. Edgehill is a small quirky town whose identity revolves around cats. With everything from the business names to the town fair having a cat related theme and name.

The characters are spot on and you cant help but fall in love with the main Protagonist Amber Blackwood and yes, she is a witch, from a long line of witches who keep their identity secret, for good reason!

Being a cozy mystery you are dragged into a plot line that keeps you on the edge of your seat and has you invested in the characters right through to the end. This leaves you wanting more and I can guarantee that you will move straight on to the second book in the series as you are left with so many unaswered questions about Amber and her family.

So if you are looking for a quick, quirky, fun read you should definitely go and grab yourself a copy!
