After a decade teaching 8th graders the wonderful world of reading and writing, I fell chronically ill and have undergone profound physical, mental, and emotional transformations that are constantly challenging what I thought was my purpose and what my purpose really is. I am constantly exploring this (consciously and subconsciously) through a variety of outlets- books, podcasts, articles, how-tos, online classes, etc. it has turned me into a weird machine of random skills (strange trivia to knowing the ins and outs of filing for disability). I was constantly being asked to speak or write on behalf of my illness and/or my experience with a disease that has already determined my fate (well unless a million other things happen first...) to the dreaded” D”- dementia. Because of that, I feel I have to constantly be learning and engaged thinking that one day, I won’t be able to AND I continue to write and speak in a variety of platforms from reviews of random products, to guest blogging about everything from my illness to the best hands free pet leashes to how to find the best therapist for your teen...”
I currently am waiting to go back out on the road with my super suave spouse, Ronnie. He drives a semi and we go out for a month at a time all over the states and I get to do what I do best - explore places I’d never seen if not for him and then I get paid to write: Sometimes about my adventures with him, sometimes with my health, but I don’t write for the money... I write (and read) because I have to. That is my way of learning how the world works: past, present and future and being able to explore my place in this huge universe and find purpose and meaning out of the mundane.

Prepare to laugh and cry at this real life mystery unveil in real time....
I can't think of any other podcast like S-Town, but after I binged the entire first season on it's release date, I expected to find a plethora of the type in the next few months on account of it's success. But unlike Serial - a true crime podcast that broke the internet and introduced 90% of the world to our amazing little corner - S-Town is hard to even identify it's genre , let alone duplicate something that's good because it is unique , so to my dismay, I still hold S-TOWN up there as my top 5 and am always on the lookout for the next diamond in the rough.

Unfortunately, telling you too much of any of this podcast is not fair because you deserve the chance to listen with unabashed views or predetermined ideas so you too will have no idea of what's coming...that's the best way to go into this one!

Oh, since I didn't tell you ABYTHJNG about it, just know that of all the podcasts I've tried to get my husband to listen all the way thru to - this, S-TOWN, was the only one he's ever listened to from the first to last episode. And he is hard to entertain with podcasts or audiobooks , so if he was asking me to "play the next one" after the first, you're sure to enjoy it just as much as we did. And that's all ya need to know!
